Hyderabad: The Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) has dropped five questions in the Group-I preliminary examination. More than two answers to the other two questions were declared correct. TSPSC group-1 final key was announced on November 15. The decision was taken on the basis of the recommendations of the subject expert committee in the wake of objections on the preliminary key. The Group-1 preliminary exam was held on October 16. The commission announced the preliminary key on October 29. The objections were received October 30 to November 4. There have been several objections from the candidates on this preliminary key. These have been recommended by the TSPSC to the subject expert committees. The committee examined the objections thoroughly. The decision was taken to remove 5 questions. Then the final 'key' was announced.
5 Questions Removed in TSPSC Group-1 Prelims Exam 2022
According to the Group-I Preliminary Master question
paper, questions 29, 48, 69, 82, 138 were deleted. The commission said that the
answer to question 107 will be given a mark whichever is mentioned in option 1
or 2 or 3 or 4. For question 133, one or two of the two options will be
identified and the mark will be allotted. The answer to question 57 has been
modified as an option. Accordingly, as many as 5 questions out of a total of
150 marks were deleted in the Group-I exam, so the marks obtained for 145
questions were calculated in a normalization manner to 150 marks.
Merit list will be prepared based on normalization marks
As per para no.8(4) of the notification, when the
questions are deleted, the marks obtained by the candidate for the rest of the
questions will be calculated in a normalization manner under the total marks.
These will be taken into account up to the third decimal point when calculating
them. For example, let's say a candidate gets 120 marks. Since five questions
have been dropped in the preliminary, the remaining 145 questions will get 120
out of a total of 145 marks at the rate of one mark each. The final merit will
be calculated on a proportional basis for 150 marks. Meaning... The candidate
got 120 marks out of 145 marks. The score obtained for 150 marks on this count
is 150/145 x 120=124.137... This means that the marks of the candidate in the
preliminary examination will be 124.137. On this count, each candidate's marks
will be taken up to three decimals. The final merit list will be prepared by
the commission.
