Telangana Intermediate New Changes 2026-27 | CM Revanth Reddy Approves Major Inter Reforms
Hyderabad, October 25, 2025:
The Telangana government has introduced significant reforms in Intermediate education that will take effect from the academic year 2026–27. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has approved a series of key proposals sent by the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) to make the curriculum more practical, balanced, and aligned with NCERT standards.
These changes include introducing first-year practicals, 20% internal marks for all subjects, a new ACE group, and a reduction in the syllabus.
🔹 Major Telangana Inter Reforms 2026–27
🧪 1. Practicals Introduced in First Year
Until now, practical exams were only conducted in the second year for MPC and BiPC students. Starting from the 2026–27 academic year, practicals will also be held in the first year.
-
MPC Group: Physics and Chemistry practicals for 15 marks each in both 1st and 2nd years.
-
BiPC Group: 120 marks (30 marks for each of 4 subjects), divided equally between both years.
This ensures students get lab exposure and hands-on learning from the very first year of Intermediate.
🧾 2. 20% Internal Marks for All Subjects
-
From 2026–27, 20% of total marks will be allotted for internal assessment in all subjects.
-
Currently, only English includes internal marks.
-
The new system covers Telugu, Sanskrit, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, and other subjects.
-
Remaining 80% marks will be for written exams.
This reform aims to encourage continuous assessment rather than one-time exam pressure.
💼 3. New ACE Group Introduced
A new group called ACE (Accountancy, Commerce, Economics) will be added from the next academic year.
At present, CEC (Civics, Economics, Commerce) is available. With the introduction of ACE, the focus shifts toward accountancy and financial studies, catering to the growing interest in commerce and business education.
📚 4. New Syllabus and Reduced Workload
-
Subjects like Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry will have a revised syllabus aligned with NCERT standards.
-
The current state syllabus is more extensive compared to NCERT.
-
This change will reduce workload and help students prepare for JEE, NEET, and other competitive exams more effectively.
📲 5. QR Codes in Textbooks
All Intermediate textbooks will feature QR codes on their pages.
By scanning these codes, students can access:
-
Extra study material
-
Concept explanations
-
Video lectures and online resources
This digital step aims to make textbooks interactive and student-friendly.
🗓️ Implementation Schedule
All these reforms will come into force from the academic year 2026–27.
TSBIE has been directed to prepare new syllabus books, update evaluation methods, and train teachers accordingly.
