TGCET 2026: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q1: What is the application fee for TGCET 2026?
A: The application fee is ₹100. This can be paid online through the official portal using a Debit Card, Credit Card, or Net Banking.
Q2: Can students from private schools apply for TGCET?
A: Yes. Students currently studying 4th Class in any recognized Government, Aided, or Private school in Telangana are eligible to apply for admission into the 5th Class.
Q3: My child’s Aadhaar card has a different date of birth than the school records. Which one should I use?
A: You must use the Date of Birth as per the School Bonafide/Records. If there is a major difference, it is recommended to get the Aadhaar updated, but for the application, the school record is the primary document.
Q4: Is there a "Local" reservation for these schools?
A: Yes. According to government rules, 50% of the seats are often reserved for local students within the respective constituency or district to ensure nearby students get preference.
Q5: What are the passing marks for the TGCET exam?
A: There are no fixed "passing marks." Selection is based strictly on Merit (Rank) and the Reservation Category (SC/ST/BC/General). Students with higher marks in the 100-mark paper have a better chance of getting their preferred school.
Q6: I made a mistake in the application form. Can I edit it?
A: Usually, the department provides an "Edit Option" for a few days after the application deadline. However, it is best to double-check everything before the final submission, as major details like Name and Caste are sometimes difficult to change later.
Q7: Can I use the same mobile number for two of my children?
A: No. The system requires a unique mobile number for each registration. If you have two children applying, please provide two different mobile numbers to ensure you receive separate hall ticket alerts and results.
