SSC CGL 2023 Syllabus-SSC CGL Exam Tier I, Tier II Exam Syllabus Pattern

    SSC CGL Examination Tier I and Tier II Exam Pattern and Syllabus-Exam dates -2023

    SSC Combined Graduate Level Exam 2023 pattern and Syllabus: The Combined Graduation level test will be conducted in two stages. Those are Tier1 and Tier 2. Those who are qualified Tier 1 they are eligible to write the Tier 2 exam. Those who cleared Tier 2 they are called for the documents verification or Skill Tests. What is this tier 2 SSC CGL Exam? don’t worry no confusion SSC has been changed exam pattern for SSC CGL 2023 vide notification 2023 which is released on 03-04-2023  And there is no interview for SSC CGL posts as per government instructions. Tier 1 and Tier 2 both the exams are objective type. Tier-1 exam will be conducted for 200 marks (100 questions) given time is 75 Minutes. The paper consists of four sections each section carries 25 questions with 50 marks.

    SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Pattern:

    1. General Intelligence-50 Marks

    2. Quantitative Aptitude-50 Marks

    3. General English-50 Marks

    4. General Studies-50 Marks

    Tier-2 Exam consists of two papers common for all and one paper for compiler and statistical officer and another paper for AAO post applied candidates.

    •  Paper-1 contains quantitative aptitude, mathematics with 100 questions for 200 marks.
    • Paper-2 also for 200 marks having 100 questions from English knowledge, comprehension.
    • Those who are applied for the Compiler, Statistical Officer they have to write the paper-3 also. In paper-3 question will be given from statistics with 200 marks contains 100 questions.
    • Paper 4 for the Assistant Audit Officer consists of the subject General Studies of Finance and Economics for 200 marks with two hours duration.

    Those who are clears the Tier-1 and Tier-2 based on merit they will be allocated to their respective posts. Based on the merit only final list will be prepared.
    Note: Exam Date for SSC CGL is changed due to large number of applications. Tier 1 exam will be conducted in July-2023.

    You have to concentrate on issues related to society and Economic, historical, social, and social aspects questions.     English Comprehension Syllabus for SSC CGL Exam 2023:

    The questions will be given to test your English language. The use of the words, in the English sentence traceable to the master of mistakes, especially in grammar grip is tested.     Tier 2 Paper 1 exam consists of 3 sections.

    (i): Paper-I is compulsory for all the categories of posts.

    (ii): Paper-II is only for those candidates who  apply for the post of JSO/ Statistical Investigator Gr.II & Compiler.

     Questions in this components will be designed to test the candidate’s understanding and knowledge of English Language and will be based on  spot the error, fill in the blanks, synonyms, antonyms, spelling/detecting mis-speltwords, idioms & phrases, one word substitution, improvement of sentences, active/passive voice of verbs, conversion into direct/indirect narration, shuffling of sentence parts, shuffling of sentences in a passage, cloze passage & comprehension passage.

    Paper-II Tier II SSC CGL Exam Syllabus: Statistics

    for Investigator Grade-II, Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation & Compiler in RGI.

    Collection Classification and Presentation of Statistical Data – Primary and Secondary data, Methods of data collection; Tabulation of data; Graphs and charts; Frequency distributions; Diagrammatic presentation of frequency distributions.

     Measures of Central Tendency– Common measures of central tendency – mean median and mode; Partition values- quartiles, deciles, percentiles.

     Measures of Dispersion- Common measures dispersion – range, quartile deviations, mean deviation and standard deviation; Measures of relative dispersion.

     Moments, Skewness  and Kurtosis – Different types of moments and their relationship; meaning of skewness and kurtosis; different measures of skewness and kurtosis.


    Correlation and Regression
    – Scatter diagram; simple correlation coefficient; simple regression lines; Spearman’s rank correlation; Measures of association of attributes; Multiple regression; Multiple and partial correlation (For three variables only).


    Probability Theory
    – Meaning of probability; Different definitions of probability; Conditional probability; Compound probability; Independent events; Bayes’ theorem.


    Random Variable and Probability Distributions –
    Random variable; Probability functions; Expectation and Variance of a random variable; Higher moments of a random variable; Binomial , Poisson, Normal and Exponential distributions; Joint distribution of two random variable (discrete).


    Sampling Theory
    – Concept of population and sample; Parameter and statistic, Sampling and non-sampling errors; Probability and non-probability sampling techniques (simple random sampling, stratified sampling, multistage sampling, multiphase sampling, cluster sampling, systematic sampling, purposive sampling, convenience sampling and quota sampling); Sampling distribution(statement only); Sample size decisions.


    Statistical  Inference
    – Point estimation and interval estimation, Properties of a good estimator, Methods of estimation (Moments method, Maximum  likelihood method, Least squares method),  Testing of  hypothesis, Basic concept of testing, Small sample and large sample tests, Tests based on Z, t, Chi-square and F statistic,  Confidence intervals.


    Analysis of Variance –
    Analysis of one-way classified data and two-way classified data. Time Series Analysis – Components of time series, Determinations of trend component by different methods, Measurement of seasonal variation by different methods.


    Index Numbers
    – Meaning of Index Numbers, Problems in the construction of index numbers, Types of index number, Different formulae, Base shifting and splicing of index numbers, Cost of living Index Numbers, Uses of Index Numbers.

     Paper III Tier II SSC CGL Exam Syllabus: General Studies (Finance and Economics) for the post of Assistant Audit Officer in Indian Audit & Accounts Department under CAG.

    Part A: Finance and Accounts-(80 marks): Fundamental principles and basic concept of Accounting. Financial Accounting: Nature and scope, Limitations of Financial Accounting, Basic concepts and Conventions, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.     -Meaning and Factors of production; Laws of production- Law of variable proportions and Laws of returns to scale.
